Eating Pizza Slices Cancer Risk

Cancer News

There are different types of great cancer news. The first bit of good news concerning cancer would be when the doctor reports you don’t have cancer. The second best cancer news is, “the cancer is gone.” Maybe, just maybe, the third best type of cancer news is when a medical study tells us that eating pizza can slice your chances of getting cancer. That’s exactly what happened in Italy. Yes, leave it to Italian doctors to do a study on how cancer risks can be reduced by eating pizza. Dr. Silvano Gallus, of the Milan based Mario Negri Institute for Pharmaceutical Research was the leader of this research study.

Ask for Extra Sauce on Your Next Order

It’s long been known that tomatoes are good for you. There’s an anti-oxidant called lycopene in high amounts found in tomatoes. The researchers stated that this amount of lycopene in the tomato sauce can slice pizza lovers chance for contracting oesophageal (esophagus) cancer by 59%. Colon cancer can be reduced by 25% and and mouth cancer chances can be reduced by over 30%. This is amazing news, isn’t it?

Warning

Pizza can make you fat. Do not inhale 2-3 large pizzas a week just to reduce your chance of getting colon cancer. Just like on a box of Cheerios where it says, eating a bowl of Cheerios can help reduce cancer (if accompanied by a healthy diet and lots of exercise), the same thing applies to eating pizza. It too must be accompanied by a healthy diet and exercise.

Your Thoughts

Will you now go out and no longer feel guilty about eating an extra slice of pizza? Will you decide to always order your pizzas with extra sauce now that you know it’s good for you? Will you spread this news to others in your circle of friends and to family members? Remember, good news like this must be shared.

Enjoy your next pizza. It does a body good (well, at least this medical study says it does).
