Chuck E. Cheese’s

One of the most fun places to eat pizza is Chuck E. Cheese’s. My son and I visit often to the store just down the street from their world headquarters in Irving, TX. The pizza is very good but the games are amazing. Originally founded by the owner of Atari Video Games, Chuck E. Cheese spawned competition in the form of Showbiz Pizza Place.

When I was a teen, my favorite place to eat pizza was Showbiz Pizza. It was this company that eventually bought out the parent company of Chuck E. Cheese and when it filed for bankruptcy in 1984. The new company re-branded its Showbiz stores as Chuck E. Cheese. I still miss the dark rooms filled with video games in the old Showbiz stores. It was a cool place for teens to hang out.

Today, there is not better place for families to have fun. Almost every kid in America has had a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese’s. Has yours?

CiCi’s Pizza
Ever wonder how some pizza chains were named. Well, in 1985 two friends, Joe Croce and Mike Cole began CiCi’s Pizza. There you go, C and C equals CiCi’s. Yes, just like many of the best pizzerias in America, this pizza chain was named after its founders.

This is another of those wonderful pizza chains with headquarters in the Dallas – Ft. Worth metroplex. It’s amazing how many pizza chains are based just down the street from the PizzaSpotz.com headquarters. CiCi’s has won numerous awards and recognitions over the years. These range from best customer service, healthiest pizza, top franchise and best in value among other awards.

Domino’s Pizza

In 1960 the Monaghan brothers, Tom and James, bought a pizzeria in Ypsilanti, MI. They paid $75 down and borrowed $500 to finalize the purchase. That’s a bargain. Now for the bad news for brother James. He needed a car and eight months later, he sold his half of the business for Tom’s old VW Beetle. Thirty-eight years later, Tom sold the business to Bain Capital for one billion dollars.

Domino’s Pizza now has over 8000 stores, 5000 in the U.S. and 3000 international stores. One of the big highlights in Domino’s history is their historic recipe change in 2010. After a survey showed in 2009 that customers rated the taste of their pizza dead last among pizza chains, Domino’s took steps that would never happen again. Customers in late 2010 cheered their new recipe. Not only does the pizza tastes better, it’s now healthier than ever.

Donatos Pizza

If you’re an Ohio State Buckeye, you have a fondness in your heart for Donatos. This franchise has over 200 stores in six states, but their first was begun in Columbus, OH in 1963. A lot of pizza chains make promises but few can deliver like Donatos. This is their promise to customers: “To serve the best pizza and make your day a little better.”
Now that’s the way I feel after having a great pizza and it’s what we should always strive for, making someone’s day a little better. Bravo to Donatos. With their delicious pizza and great customer service, they do indeed make thousands upon thousands of customer’s lives a little better each day.

DoubleDaves Pizza Works

As with many successful pizza chains, DoubleDaves was founded in a university town. DoubleDaves Pizza Works was founded in College Station, Texas, home of Texas A&M, in 1984. Named after its owner (yes he is is named David twice), David Davydd Miller has grownn DoubleDaves into a chain of over 50 stores in Texas. This pizza chain is Texas born and bred and is proud of its heritage. Don’t belive me, check out this page which highlights its Agglie bloodline. If they had a choice, I bet they’d create their own maroon colored tomato sauce. If one comes to Texas, they must visit a DoubleDaves Pizza Works to get the entire Texas experience.
