What is the NEPA Pizza Review? It’s a pizza blog. Not only is it a pizza blog, but it’s the first that we’re featuring in our new category, “GREAT PIZZA BLOGS.”

NEPA Pizza Review

What is NEPA?

Well, NEPA stands for Northeast Pennsylvania. This amazing pizza blogger reviews pizza only from pizzerias in the following counties: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming. Major cities in this area include Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. The entire NEPA Pizza Review area covers 3360 square miles filled with hungry pizza lovers. NEPA Pizza Review provides a valuable service to almost 700,000 people. While the two largest cities are Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, some of the best pizzas can be found in smaller towns throughout the area.

Authenticity

The NEPA Pizza Review has been busy reviewing the best pizza in Northeast Pennsylvania since August 2012. While some pizza review bloggers take freebies and like special treatment, that is not what happens here. Jim won’t stand for it. When reviewing pizzas, he tries his best to receive the most authentic treatment when visiting a pizzeria. Owners have approached him on occasion as he takes pictures of the pizza he eats or the ambiance of the pizzerias and he usually just tells them he’s showing a friend where he’s eating. He admits he’s a terrible liar but will do whatever possible to keep his experiences authentic.

In the beginning, James simply reviewed pizzas. He dove right into his passion as a former pizza maker (he actually still makes pizzas at home and fills in once in a while at a NEPA pizzeria). His blog has expanded to blog posts about how pizzeria owners can sell more pizzas, the inclusion of actual pizzeria menus and his famous NEPA Pizza Madness tournament. You must check out how Jim does the Pizza Madness tournament. It’s awesome and he gets lots of comments from his readers, the NEPA NATION.

A Sample Review Synopsis

Jim does his best to always find good in a pizza. After all, he’s on the road quite often, visiting pizzerias and consuming his favorite food in the world. It’s best to do it with a good attitude. Even after personally reviewing over 120 pizzas, he’s not tired of pizza. Unbelievable, huh? Below you’ll find a brief snapshot of Pehr’s Pizza in Scranton. The following is how he sums up his experience at the end of his lengthy reviews. Don’t neglect to read the entire Pehr’s Pizza review. I’ve listed the highlights below since it was the most recent review I saw on this pizza blog when I checked it out.

What I love best about Jim’s reviews is that as a pizza maker himself, he knows what he’s talking about. Also, one of my favorite parts of the synopsis above is his “Similar to” pizzerias. Don’t you love that too?

NEPA Pizza Review is on Twitter

What good is a pizza blog or pizza website if they do not have a very active, informative and conversational Twitter account? Not very good at all I’d say. No need to worry here. One of the reasons I’ve started our great pizza blogs section with NEPA Pizza Review is because of the Twitter account. Jim is very active. Not a day goes by his isn’t tweeting or retweeting. He converses with his followers. You’ll be surprised by how many pizzerias don’t converse on Twitter, and for that matter, how many pizza bloggers don’t converse. On top of it all, the info he provides on the Twitter account is helpful, entertaining and informative too.

Give NEPA Pizza Review some love

Other than a mention a few months ago in the Wilkes-Barre Citizen Voice, there’s not been a lot of press for NEPA Pizza Review. I think this is an amazing oversight on part of all media outlets in NEPA. The Times Union in Scranton and WNEP should feature Jim in some news stories on pizza. Also, the Aquinas at the University of Scranton and the Wood Word at Marywood University should include some fun stories in their pages. Pizza is the ultimate fun topic. The annual Pizza Madness tournament would be the perfect story to cover.

Have you visited the NEPA Pizza Review? If yes, tell us what you think. Does NEPA Pizza Review really deserve to have a coveted position in our great pizza blogs category? If you haven’t visited the blog yet, go check out what Jim says about your favorite pizzeria.
