Are you looking for a pizzeria that will satisfy not only your hunger, but also your longing for childhood nostalgia? Then Pitman, New Jersey’s Jim and Mike’s Pizza just may be the place for you!
Jim & Mike’s Pizza has been a staple of downtown Pitman ever since it opened its doors back in 1984. I have been a loyal Jim & Mike’s Pizza customer since moving to Pitman in the mid-1990’s. It has always been a fun place for kids to go after school or on weekends with a group of friends for a slice of pizza. Part of what makes it so attractive to kids is its downtown location, its affordable prices, and the fun old-fashioned environment inside its doors. Jim & Mikes is one of the few pizzerias around that is FUN to go to. There are tons of places to sit inside so you can easily pack a few of your friends inside for a pizza party. Boredom doesn’t exist at Jim & Mikes. They offer two unique vending machines — one featuring stuffed animals and another more challenging light-up game that includes prizes such as gift cards and sometimes even tickets to local sporting events (I recently won a pair of tickets to see the Philadelphia 76ers!).
Even into my adult years I continue to go to Jim & Mikes on an almost weekly basis, despite no longer living down the street. The place hasn’t changed a bit. They still make the world’s best pizza at a responsible price. What makes Jim & Mike’s pizza unique is that they don’t strictly use mozzarella cheese. Instead they use a blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheese. The use of cheddar cheese helps prevent the cheese from burning while still allowing it to achieve its signature golden brown coloring. You can’t see the pizza sauce because there is so much cheese, but they use the perfect amount of sauce to keep the pizza nice and moist without over saturating it. It’s perfect for people that aren’t big fans of pizza sauce. The crust is also worth noting as it is never ever burnt and very easy to chew. Non-crust eaters (like myself) will even enjoy it!
Jim & Mike’s offers a wide variety of unique toppings for a small fee. These toppings include pepperoni, sausage, bacon, ham, meatballs, black olives, onions, extra cheese, green bell peppers, spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes, sweet peppers, garlic, ricotta cheese, feta cheese, and gyro. They also serve specialty pizzas such as Greek, Meat Lovers, Vegetarian, Buffalo Chicken, Five Cheese, BBQ Chicken, Grilled Chicken, Steak Pizza and Jim & Mike’s Special which is described as “An oven baked blend of pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, ham, meatballs, onions, sweet peppers, and olives.” My favorite pizza is the standard cheese pizza with extra cheese… they never skimp out! The pizza is completely covered with their signature blend of mozzarella and cheddar.
Jim & Mike’s pizza is located at 7 South Broadway in Pitman, NJ.
