Seriously, have you ever seen people eating pizza with a frown on their face? In only the most rare of occasions does one take a bite of Americans’ most loved food and frown. The reason? Simple. Pizza makes people happy. By the way, in the photo below, the Marine on the left (Nixon) had not had a piece of i Fratelli pizza yet. He was definitely smiling later.

DSC_0072.NEFI saw evidence of my “pizza makes people happy” hypothesis while delivering pizza for a Ford Motor Company/ i Frattelli pizza giveaway on Veteran’s Day. Rough and tough retired Marines, Army infantry, sailors and airmen smiled as my son and I walked into American Legion post #453 in Dallas, each of us carrying as many pizzas as we could.

We were made to feel very welcome by all, Mattie and a couple others helped with logistics and introduced us around. We waited for some Veterans Day parade riders to come back, we shared in some good conversation and learned about the many good works the post does for veterans. We found vets who for the most part did their tours in Vietnam and now in retirement, do good for so many in the community. If you don’t know much about the American Legion and what it does, please check out the national website and see for yourself.

We said our goodbyes and we were sent off with smiles and with a hearty welcome back, and a reminder from Mattie (above in first picture holding the pizza box) to come back next time with more pizza. We’ll try to make sure that happens.

I wonder what vehicle we’ll be driving next time.
